East Gippsland Wedding Planner

www.eastgippslandweddingexpo.com.au | EAST GIPPSLAND WEDDING PLANNER 2017 45 Lakes Entrance Surf Life Saving Club provides a spectacular and unique venue for engagement parties and wedding receptions. Situated on the 90 Mile Beach, the reception venue overlooks Cunninghame Arm and the Lakes Entrance footbridge. “Because of the views and its situation on the beach, it really is a popular choice for a range of functions, especially weddings,” function coordinator, Brendan King, said. Equipped with a bar, a full commercial kitchen and a cool room, the club allows those hiring it access three days before the big event to set up. Brendan said people can decorate it as they see fit, the rafters provide a good structure on which to hang decorations and the trestle tables can be placed in a number of different configurations. “Someone once brought in a chandelier to hang from the rafters which looked quite good.” With indoor and outdoor seating on the deck, the club can seat up to 100 people, but many more if the reception isn’t a sit down affair. “My son Justin had his reception there in 2012 and with 105 people seated, it was a little bit of a squeeze,” Brendan said. “A stand-up cocktail wedding reception with finger food will accommodate many more.” Surf club volunteers are available to do bar duty and there is a quality sound system in which you connect an iPod, laptop or iPhone. There’s room for a band or a jukebox if you prefer. Brendan says some people elect to bring in a wedding coordinator to set up the room and take care of all the arrangements, such as catering, linen for the tables, decorations and seating arrangements etc. While some may choose to marry on the beach and walk to the surf club, Brendan says others opt for a traditional church wedding before arriving at the reception centre. Lakes Entrance Surf Life Saving Club hosts half a dozen weddings a year. SPECTACULAR LOCATION, UNIQUE VENUE
